This policy explains what information FoodCheat LLC ("FoodCheat," "we," "us") collects when you use the FoodCheat iOS app, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using FoodCheat, you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account information. Your name and email address when you create an account.
- Meal data. The photos you take, any descriptions or corrections you add, calorie estimates and adjustments, and your logging history.
- Goals and settings. Your optional calorie goal, selected approach, reminder times, and notification preferences.
- Purchase information. Your subscription status (free or Pro). Payments are processed entirely by Apple; we never see or store your payment card details.
- Device and usage basics. Standard technical information such as app version, device type, and diagnostic data that helps us keep the app working.
How we use your information
- To analyze your meal photos and generate calorie estimates, which is the core of what FoodCheat does.
- To store and sync your food log, stats, insights, and goals.
- To manage your subscription and unlock Pro features.
- To send you the reminders and insight notifications you turn on. These are scheduled locally on your device.
- To respond when you contact us for support.
- To fix bugs and improve the app.
How AI processing works
When you scan a meal, your photo (and any description you add) is sent securely through our servers to our AI provider, OpenAI, which generates the food identification and calorie estimate. Under OpenAI's API terms, data submitted this way is not used to train their models. Your photos are used to produce your estimate, not to build advertising profiles or anything else.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your personal information. To anyone.
- We don't show ads or share your data with advertisers.
- We don't use your meal photos for anything other than powering your food log.
Who we share information with
Only the service providers that make FoodCheat run:
- Supabase hosts our database and handles account authentication.
- OpenAI processes meal photos to generate calorie estimates, as described above.
- RevenueCat manages subscription status.
- Apple processes all payments through the App Store.
Each provider receives only what it needs to do its job. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active so your log and stats stay intact. You can delete individual meals anytime in the app. To delete your account and all associated data, email us at support@foodcheat.app and we'll take care of it.
Security
Your data is encrypted in transit, and access to our systems is restricted. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take protecting your information seriously and use reputable, industry-standard providers.
Children
FoodCheat is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
A note on health
FoodCheat provides calorie estimates for awareness. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical or nutritional advice. For guidance about your health or diet, talk to a qualified professional.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page and let you know in the app. Continued use of FoodCheat after changes means you accept the updated policy.
